Over the course of a thirty-year career, Eddie Izzard has proved himself to be a creative chameleon, inhabiting the stage and film and television screen with an unbelievable fervor. Born in Yemen and raised in Northern Ireland, Wales, and England, he lost his mother at the age of six and that has affected the rest of his life. In his teens, he dropped out of university and took to the streets of London as part of a comedy double act.  When his partner went on vacation, Izzard kept busy by inventing a one-man escape act, and thus a solo career was ignited. As a stand-up comedian, Izzard has captivated audiences with his surreal, stream-of-consciousness comedy—lines such as “Cake or Death?” “Death Star Canteen,” and “Do You Have a Flag?” have the status of great rock lyrics. As a self-proclaimed “action transvestite,” Izzard broke a mold performing in makeup and heels, and has become as famous for his “total clothing” rights as he has for his art. In Believe Me, he recounts the dizzying rise he made from the streets of London to West End theaters, to Wembley Arena, Madison Square Garden, and the Hollywood Bowl.

A night of NYC's favorite stand-ups. Scheduled to appear are Sandy Marks, Christian Finnegan, Lenny Marcus and Wil Sylvince.

Christian Finnegan is perhaps best known as one of the original panelists on VH1's "Best Week Ever" and as Chad, the only white roommate in "Chappelle's Show's" infamous "Mad Real World" sketch. Politics junkies will recognize Christian from his many appearances on "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". Over the past decade, Christian Finnegan has been a fixture on Comedy Central, and has appeared on "Conan", "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson", "Good Afternoon America" and "The Today Show". Christian's comedy special, "The Fun Part" was released on Netflix in April 2014.

Long Island native Lenny Marcus has been a mainstay of the New York City comedy scene for over for twenty years, performing regularly in every major comedy club in New York City.
He performed on The Late Show with David Letterman three times to amazing reviews and has also appeared on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, NBC's Comedy Showcase with Louie Anderson and MTV's The Jim Brewer Show. Lenny has made multiple appearances on Tru-tv making fun of the worlds stupidest criminals, shoppers and drivers.

Wil Sylvince is one of the most explosive comedians performing today. His comedic performances on COMEDY CENTRAL, HBO'S DEF COMEDY JAM, and SHOWTIME all garnered standing ovations by the audiences, a feat rarely seen accomplished by many performers. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Sylvince has honed his act in New York's top comedy clubs. His unique perspective on political and social issues, with a twist of his West Indian Haitian culture, makes Sylvince a comedian in high demand. He has been hand-picked by comedy heavyweights Damon Wayans, D.L. Hughley, Katt Williams and Gabriel Iglesias to tour the country.

Lineup subject to change.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart just announced on Tuesday, four days before his scheduled Birthday Bash at Foxwoods, that he would be holding an impromptu show at the Garde Arts Center to test new comedy material — a growing trend in the comedy world.

In February, Louis C.K. threw an impromptu comedy show in Boston that had crowds flocking en masse to the gig, and Chris Rock did the same thing at Greenwich Village’s Comedy Cellar in October.

Hart’s show, however, is scheduled only two hours before his party is to begin, which had us wondering how he would even make it on time. A helicopter, perhaps? All jokes aside, for Hart, this makes sense. He is known for his work ethic, and his decision to seize on an opportunity to perform at a great local arts institution shows, on his part, that coming to Connecticut for what seems like a promotional event for Foxwoods, wouldn’t be enough for him.

So wait ’til those who already bought a $45 ticket to his birthday party hear of this. Foxwoods’ vague description of Hart’s party had us wondering what going to such an event would entail — it seems that Hart won’t be doing any sort of performance at the party, so onlookers might be left to watch their star sit across the room drinking champagne. At the very least, based on the party info, everyone will be guaranteed a lot of cake.

Iconic comedian Louie Anderson, the three-time Emmy Award® winner, is one of the country’s most recognized and adored comics; named by Comedy Central as “One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time.” His career has spanned more than 30 years. He is a best-selling author, star of his own stand-up specials and sitcoms and he continues to tour the country performing to standing-room-only crowds worldwide.

In 2016 Anderson was cast to co-star along with Zach Galifianakis and Martha Kelly in the hit FX comedy series Baskets. Anderson plays the extraordinary role of Christine, the matriarch of the Baskets clan. He based the character on his mother and his five sisters who were all a major presence in his life. Anderson won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Christine Baskets in 2016. “I’m not as nice in the character as my mom was as a person. It really is an extension of my mom, Anderson says, adding that he always aims to make his performance “as real as possible” without “affecting or cartooning it up. It felt like it was divine intervention when I got the call to be on the show, that somehow my mom, from the great beyond, was finally getting herself into show business where she truly belonged in the first place.”

Sharing the ups and downs of his childhood experiences as one of eleven children in Minnesota, Louie crafted comedy routines that rang true for his early club audiences while reducing them to helpless fits of laughter, routines that led him from his career as a counselor to troubled children to the first--place trophy at the 1981 Midwest Comedy Competition. Henny Youngman, who hosted the competition, recognized the diamond-in-the-rough genius of the young comic and hired him as a writer, providing invaluable experience that soon put Louie in his own spotlight on comedy stages all over the country. Johnny Carson, the comedy icon for generations of rising stars, invited Louie to make his national television debut on the “The Tonight Show” in 1984, and the rest is history. Leno, Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, “Comic Relief” and Showtime, HBO and CMT specials followed, including hosting the legendary game show, Family Feud, making Louie a household name and opening doors for him as an actor. He has guest starred in sitcoms like “Grace Under Fire” and dramas like “Touched by an Angel” and “Chicago Hope,” and he has had memorable featured roles in film comedies like “Coming to America,” opposite of Eddie Murphy, and the classic “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.” In 2013, he took a dive on the ABC reality series, “Splash” where he conquered his own fears while becoming an inspiration of hope. His standup Special, “Big Baby Boomer” premiered on CMT, in 2013. Also in that year, he competed and inspired on the ABC reality competition show, Splash.

In 1995 Louie put his creative energies to work on the Saturday morning animated series “Life with Louie.” The long--running series based on Louie’s own childhood and his life with his father won three Humanitas Prizes for writing on a children’s’ animated series, making him the only three--time recipient of this award. It also earned a Genesis Award for its depiction of the proper treatment of animals and, most significantly, two Emmy Awards.

His best-selling books include “Dear Dad – Letters From An Adult Child”, a collection of alternately touching and outrageous letters from Louie to his late father, and “Good-bye Jumbo...Hello Cruel World”, self-help for those who struggle with self-esteem issues, and his latest installment on family, “The F Word, How To Survive Your Family.”

When not in production, Louie continues to tour, traveling the States doing what Louie loves to do, Stand-Up Comedy. Louie again delivers to his fans his inimitable brand of humor and warmth

The Second City presents “We’re All in This Room Together”, 5/128PM Live at SOPAC

Full of the live and in-your-face entertainment Netflix can’t provide, The Second City’s We’re All In This Room Together features improvised comedy, audience interaction, and of-the-moment sketches and songs from the legendary sketch comedy archives made famous by superstars like Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray and more. Never the same show twice, join us in the “Room” where it happens during this special engagement.

The Second City opened its doors on a snowy Chicago night in December of 1959, and has since grown to become the world’s premier comedy club, theatre and school of improvisation—with live shows every night in Chicago, Toronto and Hollywood. Bernard Sahlins, Howard Alk and Paul Sills, son of teacher Viola Spolin, founded the theater as a place where scenes and story were created improvisationally, using techniques that grew out of the innovative techniques Spolin developed and taught. The Second City chose its self-mocking name from the title of an article about Chicago by A. J. Liebling that appeared in The New Yorker in 1952.
Andrew Alexander and his recently deceased partner Len Stuart acquired The Second City in 1987. Andrew Alexander has helmed the Second City for 42 years and has produced television programs in both the United States and Canada including “SCTV,” “Second City Presents” and “Next Comedy Legend.” Since its debut, The Second City has been a launching pad for comedians, actors, directors and others working in show business. Notable alumni include Alan Arkin, Dan Aykroyd, James Belushi, John Belushi, John Candy, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Rachel Dratch, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Jeff Garlin, Ian Gomez, Bonnie Hunt, Richard Kind, Eugene Levy, Jane Lynch, Andrea Martin, Jack McBrayer, Tim Meadows, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Catherine O’Hara, Gilda Radner, Harold Ramis, Joan Rivers, Amy Sedaris, Martin Short, George Wendt and Fred Willard, among many others.
